Greek Ambassador to Canada
Your Excellency:

It seems that the Greek Government has succumbed to Israeli pressure and blackmail to stop the Freedom Flotilla from leaving Greece. By doing so, the Greek government has proven that it is prone to Israeli, US and European pressures and does not care for principles, the rule of international humanitarian law nor for the longstanding friendship between the Palestinian and Arab peoples and the Greek people. With this move, the Greek government is implicating itself and its country in Israeli war crimes and Apartheid. We call on the Greek government to immediately lift the ban on the FREEDOM Flotilla and allow it to sail to Gaza and to stop doing the dirty work for the Israeli government.

We will call for a Boycott of Greek Products if you do not immediately reverse your hostile action towards the international human rights activists. We hate to resort to such actions because we know the Greek people are not behind your government’s move, but you leave all of us who believe in peace with justice with no other choice.

Authorities in Greece have stopped flotilla boats from sailing

Greek and Canadian governments complicit in Gaza blockade

You might have already heard the news coming from Greece that the Tahrir together with the US ship have been prevented from leaving the Greek port and that one Canadian has been threatened with being arrested.

Rallies are being organized across Canada to protest against the actions of the Greek government that is obviously giving in to Israel’s pressure. Of course the Canadian government is complicit by not guaranteeing the safety of Canadians.

The date for the rally is Saturday, July 2nd, at 2 pm in front of the CBC at Georgia and Hamilton.

Other suggested actions include:

  • Write to our MPs. The Canadian Government needs to know that they are complicit in the coercion. And that they have a responsibility by international convention, to protect the Canadians on the Flotilla. We have a letter template for you to use to send to MPs reminding them that the Canadian government has obligations under the Geneva Convention.
  • Write to Greek officials. Greek government officials are to be asked to clarify whether a political decision has been made by the Greek government in response to Israeli and other governments’ pressure. We will ask that they not be complicit in the massive human rights violations by Israel against the people of Gaza. We will ask them to defend human rights and not fall to the pressure of Israel and other governments – who are playing with the lives and livelihoods of Greeks and Palestinians.

SPREAD THE WORD SO WE CAN HAVE A HUGE RALLY!!!!

NO to Dispossession of the Palestinians

Join the picket outside the “Jewish National Fund” (JNF) Negev Gala Dinner on June 16, 2011 at 5 pm at the Four Seasons Hotel in Vancouver (W. Georgia and Howe). The racist and discriminatory policies of the JNF have been well documented (http://www.stopthejnf.org/) and are of particular concern here in Canada due to the creation of “Canada Park” on the ruins of 3 Palestinian villages in the occupied West Bank. The Israeli ambassador will also be in attendance at this event.
Call on the Canadian Government to revoke the tax deductible status for the JNF, and stop being complicit in these WAR CRIMES.

Location: Vancouver PublicRead more

Date: Sunday, May 15
Time: 1:00pm – 4:00pm

Location: Vancouver Public Library (350 West Georgia Street)

On May 15, 1948 David Ben Gurion proclaimed the establishment of the state of Israel. This is day for the Palestinian people is know as the Nakba and every year since then, they’ve been commemorating it hoping that they would return to their homelands one day.

The Palestinian were forcibly expelled from over 500 Palestinian villages in a vicious and ugly process of ethnic cleansing. Massacres were committed, houses and field were burned and water wells were poisoned.

In Vancouver, we will commemorate this day and we will reaffirm the Palestinian right to return to Palestine UNCONDITIONALLY!!

Join the Palestinian community on May 15, in front of the Vancouver Public Library at 1:00 PM to remember the victims of the Zionist aggression against the Palestinian people.

This rally is for all the Arabs who are revolting against their dictatorships. Please bring as many flags as possible .. Libyan, Bahraini, Syrian, Yemeni, Iraqi … and all the other Arabs countries.
