Since mid-June Israeli war crimes in Palestine have escalated, allegedly in response to the disappearance and death of 3 teenage Israeli settlers. However, this latest attack is part and parcel of the illegal occupation of Palestinian land and ongoing Israeli war crimes.
According to international media sources, in just one night Monday June 30 to dawn on Tuesday July 1 at dawn, the Israeli army carried out more than 34 air strikes against different areas in the Gaza Strip, in particular densely populated refugee camps. Additionally, in a sweeping offensive, Israeli Occupation Forces have kidnapped and detained more than 600 Palestinians, including women and children.
Red Sparks Union, the Boycott Israeli Apartheid Campaign, and the Revolutionary Student Movement are calling a rally and street theatre to protest this latest round of war crimes enacted against the Palestinian people.

Support From Within: Israeli Participation in the Palestinian Struggle – from demonstrations to BDS, from Matzpen to Anarchists Against the Wall (AATW) – and the legacy of the Bund”

A talk by Kobi Snitz of Boycott from Within and AATW
Sunday, April 13, 7 pm at the Unitarian Church of Vancouver, 949 W.49th Ave.(Oak and 49th).

Kobi will speak about support by Israelis for the Palestinian popular struggle, reviewing a decade of Israeli involvement in the Palestinian popular struggle and half a decade of support for BDS (Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions) from Inside Israel (despite Israeli legislation making advocates of BDS subject to lawsuits by companies that anticipate possible future financial damage as a result).

As Kobi points out, “These efforts have historical roots which not coincidentally are largely unknown. As it isolates itself from a world increasingly critical of its destruction of Palestinian society, Israel also isolates itself from significant parts of Jewish history. ”

Donations will be accepted to help fund nonviolent activism in Beit Ummar, one of the villages where Kobi regularly participates in demonstrations.

Dr. Qumsiyeh serves as chairman of the board of the Palestinian Center for Rapprochement Between People and coordinator of the Popular Committee Against the Wall and Settlements in Beit Sahour. He is author of several books, including Sharing the Land of Canaan: Human rights and the Israeli/Palestinian Struggle (2004) and Popular Resistance in Palestine: A history of Hope and Empowerment (2011) and is a prolific writer for journals and newspapers.

He served on the Steering/Executive Committees of a number of groups including Peace Action, the U.S. Campaign to End the Israeli Occupation, the Palestinian American Congress, Association for One Democratic State in Israel/Palestine, AcademicsForJustice.org, and BoycottIsraeliGoods.org. He was the organizer of and the Palestine speaker for the Wheels of Justice Tour, which was sponsored by many national groups, including the Fellowship of Reconciliation.

Dr. Qumsiyeh will talk to us about the current situation and share his vision of a future for all the people who live in the land of Canaan. How can Canadians help to bring about a new situation of peace and justice?

On April 6, 2014, the Jewish National Fund JNF Pacific Region is holding its annual “Negev Gala Dinner”. The JNF is publicly claiming to be enhancing the environment and aiding underprivileged youth, this year in conjunction with Canadian Friends of Hebrew Univ. of Jerusalem (also built on stolen Palestinian land). Meanwhile, they are working to ethnically cleanse the Palestinian Bedouins from the Negev region, most recently under the infamous Prawer Plan. “The bill is another nakba,” MK Taleb Abu Arar said, talking about the Prawer Plan and referring to the events of 1948 when Israel was established. “It’s based on hatred and racism.”

The Bedouin village of Al Araqib in the Negev has been destroyed for the 66th time by Israeli and JNF paramilitary forces (as of March 12, 2014), but the Palestinians of the village refuse to surrender, many of them returning time and time again to rebuild. March 30th is also Palestinian Land Day and the villagers of Al Araqib are a moving example of the Palestinians’ enduring attachment to their land.

Israeli Apartheid Week – Vancouver

2014 marks the 10th year that Israeli Apartheid Week has been marked.

Israeli Apartheid Week (IAW) seeks to raise awareness about Israel’s apartheid policies towards the Palestinians and to build support for the growing Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) campaign. Reflecting the global grassroots rejection of Israel’s military and political aggression, IAW was held in more than 200 locations in 2012 and more than 150 cities in 2013.
