 Vancouver activists were out on the streets on July 22 to say Shame on Scotiabank and #ShutElbitDown. Scotiabank is the largest foreign investor in Israeli arms company Elbit. Although usually open on Saturdays, the Scotiabank branch we marched to was mysteriously “temporarily closed” when we arrived to tell Scotiabank they have Palestinian blood on their hands.
We joined with BDS Vancouver, Samidoun Vancouver, Masar Badil and Bayan Canada to Stand With Palestine and denounce Canadian complicity in Israeli war crimes.… Read more

Vancouver picket/flash action: Freedom for Walid Daqqah and Scotiabank #ShutElbitDown

Great actions on June 3 in Vancouver. Activists from local solidarity groups gathered at CBC to call for freedom for Walid Daqqah and all Palestinian prisoners. Then, they held a march and flash action at Scotiabank headquarters, to help launch the national campaign to demand that Scotiabank divest from the Israeli arms maker Elbit Systems.

Vancouver was out on the streets on May 14 for a Nakba75 rally and march. After gathering at the Vancouver Art Gallery, the crowd marched through the downtown core to the U.S. consulate to highlight Western complicity in Israeli war crimes.

Palestinian and Indigenous Solidarity


 Sto:lo Elder and Indigenous rights and environmental activist, Larry Commodore, will share the story of his arrest and abuse at the hands of Israeli police when he travelled to show solidarity with Palestinian people. Adding to this conversation will be long-time Palestinian Canadian activist, Hanna Kawas, who will be speaking about his experience in this field of advocacy.

Palestine Solidarity Goes Back to its Roots

On April 28-30, the Liberation Conference was held in Ottawa, Canada to examine strategies for Palestine solidarity work going forward in North America. The conference was organized by Masar Badil, who has already held several conferences in Europe, Brazil and Lebanon and is working to harness the new energy amongst diaspora Palestinians.
